FAQ
Questions, answered straight.
If something’s missing, ask us — we reply within one business day.
LegalityIs this legal?
Yes. Astrove doesn't alter, copy, or rebroadcast anyone's content. Your own streaming source passes through the pod to your TV untouched. On a set schedule, the pod briefly shows our short ad in its place, then returns to your content — it's our own device showing our own ad on a screen you control. We only work with everyday, unencrypted streaming sources and never touch protected or encrypted feeds.
Will my customers even notice?
It won’t disrupt anyone. The cut is frame-perfect, the ad is short and silent, and your content comes right back — no black flash, no audio interruption. It feels like a natural part of the screen, not an intrusion. The ad gets the relaxed, unhurried attention these screens already earn.
Does the ad’s sound interrupt my music or the game?
No. Ads play silently. Your music, your overhead audio, and any game sound keep running exactly as they were.
What happens if my internet drops?
Your screen keeps working. The schedule is stored on the device, so the pod follows it even with no connection. When the internet comes back, it catches up on reporting automatically.
Do I need new TVs or a new streaming service?
No. The pod fits in front of the streaming box and TV you already use. Nothing about your current content changes.
What does it cost me?
For venues: nothing. We provide the hardware and install at no charge, there’s no monthly fee, and you earn a share of every ad that plays. See Pricing.
TrustHow do I get paid, and can I trust the numbers?
You earn a share of every play, and you get proof-of-play records — what played, on which screen, and when. No vague monthly summary.
Can I cancel?
Anytime. There’s no long contract and no lock-in. If it’s not working for you, we unplug it.
What is the hardware, exactly?
A small, low-power device with an HDMI capture board. We ship it ready to run, and we maintain it while it’s installed. Some venues also opt into a small measurement camera for richer audience reporting — aggregate only, never recording or identifying anyone, and it never affects ad timing.
Is the camera recording people?
No audio. No individual identification. No face recognition for identity. The measurement camera is designed for aggregate campaign analytics, such as estimated audience size and broad age/gender ranges during ad play windows.
Can I choose no camera?
Yes. The standard Astrove pod is camera-free. The measurement camera is optional and only installed with venue approval.
Why would a venue allow measurement?
Measurement-enabled venues earn an extra 5% revenue share and may be prioritized by advertisers because campaigns on those screens include richer reporting.
Why don’t you use AI to detect commercial breaks?
Because guessing isn’t dependable. A set schedule runs the same way every time — calmer for your customers and more reliable for advertisers. More on that on the how-it-works page.
